Thou Art Lord Biography

Thou Art Lord

Thou Art Lord is the experimental industrial/deathcore/black metal side project helmed by Rotting Christ vocalist/guitarist Sakis Tolis and Necromantia bassist the Magus. Formed in 1992 to explore the duo's fascination with everything satanic, evil, and sinister, Thou Art Lord's early EP releases (Diabolou Archaes Legeones and a split release with Belgium's Ancient Rites) propagated a wall-of-destruction approach to extreme metal of unparalleled aggression and intensity. Two full-length albums, 1994's Eosforos and 1995's Appolyon, soon followed suit, but Rotting Christ's increasing popularity in the late '90s left little time for Tolis to indulge in Thou Art Lord, which remained inactive for the remainder of the decade. Finally, the project was resurrected in 2002 with the assistance of Septic Flesh vocalist Seth and drummer Akis K., who joined the original duo for the sexually explicit DV8 album, released by Greek independent Black Lotus Records. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
