Farafina Biography
Four-piece percussion ensemble founded in 1973 by Maham Konte, later becoming an eight-piece. Based in Geneva, they played at the Montreux Jazz Festival in the early '80s and toured in Europe and Japan. They played at the televised Mandela birthday party in London in 1988, and recorded with the Rolling Stones the next year. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
