Detonation Biography

Detonation

Although they hail from the Netherlands (where they first formed in 1997, in the town Zeist), Detonation perform melodic death metal in the vein of Swedish acts like Dark Tranquility and In Flames. Featuring vocalist and guitarist Koen Romeijn, guitarist Mike Ferguson, bassist Otto Schimmelpenninck, and drummer Thomas Kalksma, the group financed both 1998's Crushed Skull and 1999's Lost Euphoria EPs themselves before eventually hooking up with France's Osmose Productions for a pair of albums, 2003's An Epic Defiance and 2005's Portals to Uphobia. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
